I experience art making as an expression of my joy and wonder in encountering the natural world. I play with the complexity and intricacy of light and shadow, color, texture, form and design. Sometimes it’s creating an image - in paint or fiber - of what I notice out of the unfathomable complexity that we are immersed in - a landscape - a moment, a tree, a weed pod, a body. Other times its creating a sculptural piece combining a foraged stick or vine with fiber reflecting back what the subject seems to say to me.

The Drawing Studio is, for me, a place for learning, inspiration and community. I have participated in lessons, workshops, and life drawing sessions. The Monday morning Open Studio has been particularly nurturing for me. Serving on the Board of Directors has given me the chance to work in depth with my colleagues to foster the mission and see to the practical matters of managing a vibrant collective.
